That lucky winner was a Miss Lorna Tracey. Unfortunately Lorna was able to make the dates given so she gave the prize to her parents Liam and Claire Tracey. We caught up with Liam Tracey to see what they thought of the Barcelo Corralejo Bay Hotel and the local area and here is what he said to us.
‘My wife and I stayed in the Barcelo Corralejo Bay hotel from 6 December to 13 December 2011.
We were greeted very well on 6 December at reception. We were informed of all the facilities and eating arrangements. As we were quite early we waited for a small period for our room and then were brought to the room on the third floor.
Our ‘Superior Double’ room was spacious, very clean and bright. The bathroom had two sinks, shower, bath and bidet. The large five-foot wide bed was extremely comfortable and well complimented by the bedside lockers. TV, armchair, desk, chair and two wardrobes added to the décor. The balcony was average size and had a lovely poolside view. In addition to the sliding doors to balcony there were exterior sliding doors comprising net to allow customers leave the main doors open and prevent any mosquitoes.
The swimming pools are sizeable with two large pools and a third for young children. There were plenty of activities for adults during the day and shows/cabarets at night. Although we had no children we noticed that staff were looking after the children.
Our half board accommodation was superb. The quality, variety and volume of food for both breakfast and dinner were excellent. It’s fair to say that the food could not have been better. I suppose the only issue here was calories – but we can live with that!
Another aspect of the hotel that cannot go unmentioned is the cleanliness. Everywhere was spotless and the décor in the hotel was top class
Nearly all of our days were spent on the beach in El Cotillo. This is an old type town and has a number of lovely beaches. We also went shopping in Puerto del Rosario where there is a huge shopping centre, Los Rotundas. Corralejo itself is beautiful and offers a number of shops and as it is so close to the beach – Barcelo has a sign stating that the beach is 85 meters away – that there are lovely walks to enjoy. One particularly lovely walk is from town out to the sand dunes (about 30 minutes).’
We were so pleased that the Tracey’s had such a lovely time at the Barcelo Corralejo Bay and they have told us that they would go back and stay at the hotel again! If you fancy visiting the Barcelo Corralejo Bay yourself then you can check prices and availability here.
